Frequently Asked Questions

How do Direct Digital Radiograph (DDR) detector panels work?

ConnectDR’s Detector Panels transform X-Rays into a digital signal and instantly transmit signals via WiFi to your viewing device.

X-Ray→detector panel: scintillator crystal→light photon→photodiode→electrical energy→transistor array→digital signal

digital signal→WiFi (or cable)→viewing device | acquisition software→digital X-Ray image

What is the difference between Direct Digital Radiography (DDR) and Computed Digital Radiography (CR)?

DDR and CR are both digital imaging systems.

DDR systems utilise innovative technology and are time-efficient.

DDR systems use digital detector panels that convert X-Rays into a digital signal. This data is instantly transmitted to acquisition software on your viewing device (computer, laptop or tablet) and displayed as a digital radiographic image.

CR systems employ older technology, and processing increases image acquisition time.

CR cassettes store X-Ray energy as a latent phosphor image. A laser scanner is required to read the cassette and convert the phosphor image to a digital signal.

Do ConnectDR digital detector panels fit an X-Ray bucky-tray?

Yes. ConnectDR digital detector panels fit into an X-Ray table bucky-tray.
