Sonorite Basic Small Animal Abdominal Ultrasound Course
This course is aimed at veterinary surgeons with little or no experience of diagnostic ultrasound, that are wondering how to get started with the modality.
Through our partner, Vetsonography, we are unique in the industry by offering structured CPD accredited in-house ultrasound courses for small groups of veterinarians, this model offers many benefits;

The course includes theory access online to be consumed at leisure, followed by a 3 hour practical session which will be mixture of demonstrations and plenty of hands on time from our tutor/s. Topics covered will include basic ultrasound physics and machine setup, practical ultrasonography of the liver and gall bladder, spleen, kidneys, urinary bladder and GI tract as well as AFAST and TFAST emergency scanning techniques.
Course objectives:
- Gain a good grasp on ultrasound physics and ‘knobology’; how to make the most of your machine.
- Understand the practicalities of patient preparation and equipment considerations.
- Gain practical confidence through the introduction of a methodical and repeatable scanning approach to the small animal abdomen.
- Understand what is normal; Information and practical scanning techniques for each of the basic organ systems (liver, gall bladder, spleen, kidneys, urinary bladder and GI tract), as well as examples of pathology in these systems.
- What is FAST scanning or POCUS, and how can you incorporate this into your daily practice.
Accredited for 5 Structured CPD points.
Sonorite will provide all the necessary ultrasound equipment, we can also learn to operate your own machine if desired.
